Instead, it was able to surpass expectations since most of us assumed it would be a more modest HD upres rather than completely overhauled graphics. In a few hours it will be a week since the launch of Metroid Prime Remastered. The way they revealed it made sure that there was no confusion or hope of something else. We see fresh looking Metroid graphics and I think many of us would've thought "Oh my gosh, are they finally revealing Prime 4?!" The realization that it's Prime Remastered would probably be a little disappointing, then we'd have to recover from that to appreciate how good the game looks. However, imagine if it the trailer started without that preface. A lot of people were surprised at how casual it was since that style of announcement tends to be for lower profile releases. I also think they were smart to do it as one of their headlines within the direct, where they said what it was before revealing the trailer. Maybe it could've done better with a traditional announcement/marketing timeline, but this feels like a very clever move that could potentially made the game an even bigger success. ![]() And it seems to be a great quality product in pretty much every dimension (quality of the original game, remastered graphics, performance, etc.) This immediate acclaim and word of mouth excitement is arguably more powerful than a couple months of additional footage, hands-on impressions, etc. So out of nowhere, you've got a bunch of people excited about, playing and raving about this game. And if they can Sell Prime Remastered with essentially no marketing other than the direct, word of mouth, eshop youtube etc then that means bigger profit margins for prime and therefore less sales they actually have to make for it to be a success.īut i honestly think this is going to smash Dread out of the water, I think it might increase Dread sales infact but I think it will still blow it out the water. Would a massive advertising campaign have been good? Possibly, but then again advertising costs money. Theres basically a month till the retail launch and the amount of traction its seeing online with people talking about it and videos being made non stop I find it hard to believe also just given the price and quality that the hype isn't real. Honestly though I think they hype is generating itself. 'Metroid Prime Remastered is the Nintendo Switch game I’ve been waiting for since the console launched back in 2017. Click to expand.Or they've actually been in league with Jeff Grub this whole time, they hype started to circle when he rumoured it was coming, then theres a lul after he was sacrificed to the gaming gods only for Nintendo to go BAM heres your Metroid PRIME!
